Why do we do Ministry @ Challenge 2010?
We that are a part of the Challenge 2010 Leadership Team believe that encouraging the students and groups to do ministry and outreach during the conference (and throughout their lives) is vital because we believe that those components are essential aspects of our identity as followers of Christ. What's even more amazing to think about is that those components of ministry and outreach are attributes that are reflected in the very nature, character, and purposes of God. Thus, as we participate in God's mission and proclaim His message, we are being used by God to represent God to the world. We believe that when students embrace the life and mission that Christ has called us to live, then the students will deepen their faith, grow in boldness and intentionality, and learn that their life story is really all about living it for God's story and for His glory.
How are the components of ministry and outreach reflected in the nature and character of God?
1. God is a God of Purpose. (John 10:10, Ephesians 1:3-4, Titus 2:14)
2. God is a God of Mission. (Gen 12:2-3, Gen. 22:17-18)
3. God is a God of Outreach. (John 1:14, Philippians 2:6-8)
4. God is a God of the Nations. (Rev. 5:9-10)
5. God is a God of Love and Mercy and Grace (Ephesians 2:4-5)
How does God use the practice of ministry and outreach in the lives of His people?
1. When we serve and love others and help others come to know Jesus Christ, we model and proclaim to the world Jesus Christ, and we ultimately bring Him glory in these actions.
2. God uses ministry and outreach to help us understand every good thing that we have in Christ. (Philemon 6)
3. God uses ministry and outreach to teach His people the intricacies of His plan. God has chosen that we be His vehicles to carry the message of Jesus Christ. (Rom. 10:14-15)
4. God uses ministry to teach His people obedience and faithfulness to His Word and mandate. (Matt. 28:19-20)
5. Ministry and Outreach become the outflow of our love for Christ. (2 Cor. 5:14-15)
6. As God's people, faithfulness and obedience to live and speak for Christ become essential to our very identity as Christians. (2 Cor. 5:18-20)
7. God uses our ministry and outreach to model to the world the greatness of God's self-humbling on their behalf. (John 1:14; John 13:14-17)
8. God uses ministry and outreach to teach and train His people to be more dependent upon Him and His goodness, power, and protection.
